The engine would stumble regularly. The coils were determine to be the problem. New ones were ordered from Amazon and it runs as it should but when we hook up the kill wires the engine will not start. If one coil kill wire is disconnect it will run. Has anyone run into this issue. Where the coils ground each other.

Didn't know Kohler did that, but have run into it on Briggs.

There is a diode in the wire at each coil. If it shorts neither coil will fire.

Look the kill wires over closely, if no diodes they may be built into the coils. Check each coil from the kill terminal to the ground, if there is a diode inside the ohm meter should show the condition.

I don't use kill wires. When an air cooled engine is hot killing the spark still puts fuel in engine. Either you get dieseling or a big back fire. I leave spark on.
So I turn key off. Electric solenoid inside carb shuts off fuel and engine dies quietly in a few seconds. Sometimes engine could run backwards. Don't think that's healthy.
