None to be found with out paying a arm and leg around here! $2.28 a pound. Wish I had a bunch to sell. Last year was bust as far as seed. I am going to have to do something different this year for pasture.

Guess I am lucky. Years ago conservation would give the seed away and I used it for as long as I could get it so my fields are heavy with the stuff. Seems to come back real well also and the hay I make is good.

Thats cheap this year, all warm season forage seed has doubled in my area due to last years drouth and the probability of more dry weather this year.

I sow 8# on mime. It don't do too bad at that. I am sowing 1# of ladino clover this year. Have to watch bloating with it. Good nitrogen maker.

Depends on what you are wanting to do. I sowed mine in wheat last week at 20lb. acre. Yes its high- 2.28 like Don said-but last Sep. I baled 192 4x5 bales off 23 acres even with the dry weather. Makes awful good hay.

Makes good hay plus adds nitrogen to the soil at the same time. I have been planting it for the past 30 years and makes good horse and goat hay. But I also throw out red clover seed each year and some years some orchard grass etc.

I've read many places that it can be cut and baled the same day in dry weather. I've not seen that, but I moco into a windrow and often bale on the second day (no raking). That doesn't happen with my alfalfa. The critters prefer it over the alf.

Larry, I would think there wouldn't be much difference between us (I'm in east central part of state, close to Terre Haute). You'd want to cut in early August to allow regrowth time to reseed. It has very fine stems that don't contain a lot of moisture.
