Hello, I have a recently purchased Kubota M4030SU with the 5 cylinder engine that hadn't been started in a while. The engine fired up but immediately ran past wide open. I luckily got it shut down before damage occurred by pulling the fuel line apart and it finally died. I found that the fuel shutoff rod will not move fully. Question, Do I need to pull out the injection pump? or Can I pull off the side cover containing the shut off rod to see what's up? or Do I need to remove the governor to see what's up?

I'm assuming something might be gummed up from sitting. I'm extremely novice on how these diesel fuel setups work. Just looking for direction to get started. What should I remove first? Springs or connections to worry about? Thanks in advance!!

Can't help on why the shutoff is stuck (definitely need to figure it out), but something else is going on to cause it to run away. I don't think a shutoff lever can do that.
