Looked at la case that had not run for 5 years and on water drained in raditer. will no water in it hurt or be a problem?

Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain out a little oil. If you get water before you see the oil, then there could be internal damage from freezing.

Dad drained the water every winter on our LA. Didn"t seem to hurt it. It also sat for 19 yrs with no water until 2001. Might have dried out the seals on the cylinder sleeves a little cause now I get 6 ounces of antifreeze out of the oil pan plug every spring over the last 10 yrs since I rescued it.
