LA LI engine price

My father has moved into assisted living and I am helping him clean up the estate. He has a real good engine that came out of a combine that will fit an LA or LI.

What price should is start at, and set reserve at for Ebay?

Thanks,

Well I have been trying to get $500 out of an excellant all original one with no luck. so don't expect to get too much. I figured a running engine for transplant into a tractor would of been worth that ? I know parts to fix anything are darn expensive.
If you want it out of there you are likely going to have to start low with no reserve and let it go. $250 may be about all you can get ? I think I was offered that ? I figured mine could just sit for now I have the room and do have 2 LA tractors. So if something bad happened to my engines I'd have a spare.

If you have the time I would say it is worth more as pieces! Sad as that may seem, that is about what I have been seeing on ebay. There were a couple of engines on there over the past few months that didn't meet the reserves. Radiators seem to be scarce for one in good shape. I have been looking for one for a while now and $250 for a good radiator, if you can find one, seems to be the going price. If the fan has good bushings that is worth some money as well. Valves are $49 each new from JD so if yours are good they are worth some money. Just radiator, fan, valves, and pistons in good shape you could get $500. Heads, oil pans, valve covers are all not worth a heck of a lot. Original belt pulley with good teeth for the hand cranks are worth $75 or so.

Just some ideas for you. But as with anything, parts or as a whole, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Where are you located? Personally, I hate to see a nice engine parted to provide parts for an incomplete and frozen refugee from a fence row. If an engine is stored inside, complete, reasonably straight sheet metal, and free turning, then your and the buyers definition of excellent have a good chance of being in agreement. If an engine has been setting outside, with the muffler broke or rusted off, missing the radiator and gas cap - buy it by the pound for junk price less the required transportation to the junk yard.

You guys are funny! Its not worth that much, hate see you junk it, whats your location and I will come get it. These little tractors bring $ for there size. I sold one not running and without a tag for more then I will ever get out of my running and in good shape B. Take it for what its worth

I sold a complete LUC engine (that is the combine engine) on Fleabay last spring before the economy went fully in the dumpster for $150. This seems to be about the going price.
