late 430 power steering

This is a photo of my 1969 430 utility model. Is it necessary to remove the distributor to take off the power steering reservoir and filter or will it just sneak by once the end bolt is removed?

Unfortunately, you must remove the dist.I put number one piston on top dead center, then pulled the dist. out. This is a good time to replace the pwr steering filter, and reservoir gasket, that is available from John Saeli 315-585-9826 Reservoir gasket part # is A35965 and paper filter element# is A30834. Let us know if your steering cylinders are leaking. That is a subject that has been addressed here also. Best of luck. Chuck Machinist

Thank you, Chuck. The steering cylinders were rebuilt by the previous owner, but a small leak at the reservoir gasket is the reason for removal. I will service the filter at the same time.
