Leader Tractor Info??

Anyone know anything about a Leader tractor. Just acquired one today. The only number I can find on it is "49D" stamped into the sheet metal at the bottom of the dash. Seems awful short to be a serial number, could it be the year of manufacture? Has a 4 cylinder flathead engine and a 3 speed transmission.

Haven't had a chance to do more than take a cursory look at it. Seems to run pretty well, previous owner drove it onto the trailer.

Looks like a neat little tractor, but I can't find much info on the web other than a couple pictures in the YT archives.

Sounds like one of the postwar Leaders; run the archives here, there"re a number of Leader posts, and other owners can probably supply info. Good luck.

there is a four digit code on the same location but on the left side of the dash
