Hi, I have a stihl Bg86 blower. Always runs great and starts easily. Now after it sits for few days the cylinder fills with gas then of corse5you can pull the cord untii6i take the plug out and dump the gas out of the cylinder, then it will start. Any idea what's up with it. Thanks

Your carb needs to be rebuilt. The diaphragms are probably hardened and the "float" (spring/needle) may be stuck and letting fuel pass through.

Fuel in the tank gets hot from radiating heat once shut off. This causes pressure to build which in turn forces fuel into the carb and fills the crankcase.

First thing to look at is the tank vent. If it's had the fuel lines replaced. Check the return line to see it extends to far into the tank. Check or replace the fuel cap.

Next time you run it and shut it off. Loosen the fuel cap and leave it loose until it fully cools down. See if it floods the crankcase with fuel after.

Like Scooter said the diaphragm can be hard holding the needle valve open and all the fuel drains into the intake. Or the needle is and seat is dirty. Im leaning towards hard diaphragm. It doesnt take much hardness to not be good.

Those little carbs are not worth rebuilding, you can probably get a new one for twenty bucks.
Agree, cheap carbs are the way to go and some have a fuel adjustment screw.
Or another simple solution, drain the gas out of the tank or put in a manual shutoff.
My son installed a manual gas shutoff on his snowblower
I have similar problem on riding mowers where the gas tank is above carb.
When that happens I find a tank of gas in the crankcase.
12v solenoid 51XbgJnqFgL.__AC_SX300_SY300_QL70_FMwebp_.webp

I installed a 12v gas line shut off solenoids.

We're talking about a handheld blower with a tiny carb and extrememly short run fuel lines, not anything that has placement or provision for a shut off.

I honestly believe Geo gets paid for advertising products from Amazon on here. He can come up with some of the most off of the wall stuff I have ever heard that has nothing to do with the discussion..

One that really gets me. One day he is praising cheap Amazon carburators and raving about how good they are. Then the next day posting pictures of a cheap Amazon carb that ethanol had destroyed. 🤷

Is fuel tank above or below carburetor ? Solution is different.

I had many choices to pick from. A new carb. Drain the gas tank if all else won't work.
Why didn't the original poster comment??
I gave many other examples where I used a shutoff on a snow blower and a solenoid on mawn mowrs.
Leaking carbs is common.

Mule Meat.
What gives? Why are you attacking me?? Not Cool.

Stephen Newel recommended getting a new carb. I agreed with him.

I didn't say anything about AMAZON, You did

Reminder: Keep It Respectful – No Politics 🚫

The ethanol destroyed the OEM carb, not the China carb.
I drain them after the ethanol damaged the OEM.

Yes I get paid by AmaZon. LOL>

Recently replaced the 25 year OEM carb on my pressure washer. Started on the first pull
Easier to replace carb than rebuild old.

Recently replaced the carb on my neighbor's mini ibike.

Please try to be Respectful and polite.
