Leaking transmission shifter

I did some checking on my tractor this morning, it is a Ford 800 with a 5-speed transmission. First I must say it has a backhoe attachment on it with an external pump on the PTO and an external reservoir to supply it. So first thing I checked the fluid in the transmission it looked normal so I started the tractor and with it in neutral I took the filler cap off and it was spitting fluid out the hole at me. So I felt positive that it was filling up with fluid therefore leaking out the top. So after a warm up it started leaking so I shut it off and took the cap off and checked the fluid thinking it would be overfull. But it was still at normal height although I will say it looked a little frothy around the edges so I am at a loss again. It does not have the top end with the pump in it

I don’t know Ford that well, but if the filler cap is on the top of the transmission when running there are gears turning in there that throw trans fluid around so I would say fluid splashing inside the case is not all that uncommon.

Thanks for that info, I was wondering when I posted that thread while it wasn't with the other one. I will remedy that in the future thanks again, jayton
