Leaky thermostat gasket

Have changed coolant on my 7710.Replaced thermostat and gasket.
Once i started pouring the third jug into the rad, the thermostat gasket started to leak.
All surfaces are clean. Two bolts holding it in place are tight.
Should i wait for the coolant to swell the new gasket, before adding more coolant
Or should i have used some sort of gasket sealer?
Thx in adv for any replies.

Just thinking,,, make sure the thermostat was in the groove and the housing set all the way down. inspect housing and seat for damage or grooves, old gasket etc. If need be, use silicon to run a bead around...

make sure to your new thermostat is the double ended thermostat that has to go into the 7710..

If its a common thermostat, the tractor will overheat when you put a heavy load on it..as the bypass has not be properly closed by the back side of the correct thermostat... good luck.

Experience (trucks, tractors and cars) taught me to install that gasket with glue. Never had a problem after that....and yes you need to be very careful to ensure the stat is in the groove.
