leeding 4430 Steering

What is the way to bleed the steering on a 4430.

If it's an early 4430 with the big steering valve, there should be a bleed fitting on the valve. If it's a later tractor with the hand metering unit and steering brick, it shouldn't require bleeding. Even with the old style, you usually don't have to bleed them after repair. Operating the steering wheel back and forth and turning the wheels lock to lock several times should remove all the air.

I have not "bled" one since I found out it wasn't needed 35 years ago. If it's acting funny you still have a problem....Darn it

I haven't ever bled one either, and didn't even know it was possible, but it's in the troubleshooting instructions for the 4020. Just found out you could bleed them the other day when one of the new techs was getting "initiated" with his first steering valve, lol.

A new tech at a dealer near my did his first one last summer had it set wrong and "blew it",, it looked like a dropped pumpkin,,
