Left lift link

Is this the correct link on the left side? When I line up the leveling mark the right side is way too high.

Makes the right link run real low... not much threads screwed in to line up level... If I want to drop right lift arm to hook up to an implement, I run out of screw. Sorry if my questions annoy you. I thought that was what this forum was for. I try to get as much done and glean as much information as I can when I'm home because I don't get much time at home. Believe me, I haven't even begun to ask all the questions I have, I have tried to limit them to something I can do something about. That having been said, I'm not comfortable around people I annoy. If your comment was tongue in cheek, forgive me. I'm tired and don't feel well. If I do indeed annoy you, let me know and I will take my questions elsewhere. Happy Trails, God Bless. John

Your questions don't annoy me, and no matter what I say, ask all that you want answers for, the thing is adjustable for goodness sake, adjust it any way you want it.

Like Hobo says, you may need 3 or 4 more links in those chains.

Don't even expect me to not say what I think.

I try hard to be respectful.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to be touchy. It's just been a long, disappointing, expensive day. On the adjusting link, there is a groove in the part that screws. It looks like it's something from factory. I saw the term "leveling mark" used on this site referring to the adjustable link. I assumed that groove was it. Thanks for the info on the chains, that's something I was wondering about. A couple of more links would sure make hook ups easier. Happy Trails, God Bless. Grumpy Old Fart

just looking at the picture it is difficult to tell. I sugest you go to your friendly ford/newholland dealer and measure the left link and the stay chains on a ford 2N, (N, 0r 8N. If you recently purchased this tractor, some one may replaced it with the wrong item. my local dealer always has a tractor that he is working on in the shop or yard. also his books give the lenght of items

I wish it were as EZ as adding or tak'n away links,,, its not,,, its got to b on the money are the lift arms will not have the angle of the dangle rite....

Stormy........as best as I can tell lookin' att'chur pickchur, sumptin ain't right. Normally, yer triangular PTO surround brackets don't have "notches" like yers do.

2nd'ly, the chains are usually connected to the PTO brackets about where yer notches are with cotter-keyed "U"-links just like they are at your lower lift arms. There is 'nuttin wrong with using the "quick-links" that is currently used. (don't change it) NO GREAT STRENGTH is required of the chains, their main purpose is to keep yer lower link arms from bouncing against yer ag-bar tires when not connect to 11-hole drawbar.

3rd'ly, according to my N-Ford MPC, the left non-adjustable link chain should be 13-links long and the adjustable link chain is 11-links long but doesn't say what size chain. According to my MPC, the 9N-598A check chain and clevis assy is supposed to be 10.75" long. My links are 5/16"-chain 7-links long + 2-clevis's. Quien Sabbie???

Me? My guess PO shortened the chains to "LIMIT" the down-height of his brushhogg. We now use "limiting chains" from the 3-point attach point (longer thru pin) down to the brushhogg lower link pins. You can adjust the length of the limiter chains to what ever height you need yer brushhogg and yet you can HYDRAULIC LIFT yer brushhogg to jump over stumps and rocks and then return to exactly same cuttin' height without lookin' back.

I do that even though my 52-8N has excellent hydraulics and the little "flush handle" under my right kneesie is VERTICAL for position control. Its the "not-lookin", works fer me ........Dell

I spec it did look like I was B'n picky,,, but by b'N 2 short they also try and limit the lift at the top of its travel,,, this causes the lift arm to flex inward just B-4 its reaches the top of its travel, werk hardens them and they crack,,, bout every broken are welded arm I have seen someone has fudged up the chains,,, I have tried every combination I could come up with and the only combination that comes close to werk'n is a 7 link 5/16" chain,,, Check chain Kit # DCK1 money well spent,,,, the hole in the L bracket goes up....

Heres what Dell is talking about, mines the same 7 links.
