left over part

This is my left over part after I completed a complete overhaul. Could anyone please identify it and where it goes please. It does not go with the coolant pump/fan because I didn't take that apart at all. Even though in the manual it looks just like a part from the water pump assembly. I thought it had to do something with the flywheel but I took that apart and it doesn't look like is missing. Hopefully my picture is attached.

Never seen a clip like that on an 8N - but I've never been inside a transmission either.

What is the diameter - Must be fairly large if you were thinking it was a retainer for the flywheel?

Looks like the retainer ring on the rear wheel hub nut.

Looks like the lock ring that holds the starter drive together. Not unusual to find one or more at the bottom of the bell housing when the tractor is split.

Be happy that it's not a wrist pin lock.

The "tab" is pointing the wrong way. The tab for the axle nut snap ring points inward to engage the groove in the axle to lock the nut.

did you replace a water hose? Looks like a spring clip hose clamp if the right dia.

Betcha it holds the fuzz inside the air cleaner.

old hose clamp with part of it snapped off or axle nut retainer with part of it snapped off? with major rebuilds you always have to have something left over.
