Let's warm up with some haymaking

I thought I would share a few pictures to warm everyone one here in the midwest after a week of snow and cold. These were taken on a June day. 1st cutting alfalfa, timothy, orchardgrass hay. East central Indiana. M602 and New Idea 402 rake. M5 and 46 IH baler. Dad bought both around 1975.
Won"t be long and we"ll be making hay in the warm sunshine again.

Nice pics. Although, I am not really a big MM fan, both of those tractors look like very handy and versatile tractors that would be quite useful to have around.

My one grandpa had a MM that he liked very well - it was his big tractor for farming 200 acres. I do not remember the model number but it was NF gas with over/under and somewhere around 57 hp - it looked a lot like your M5 from what I can remmember. I never got to drive it though as I was only 5 years old in 1973 when he retired and sold out. Never got to drive his JD 520 either.

Now when I got a little older my other grandpa had a MM G705 diesel in the early 1980's. I have not a good word to say about a MM G705. Ungainly handling suitable only for a large prairie, terrible gear ratios, poor power (even after a major overhaul). My dads 1800 Oliver gasser would work circles around it. Unfortunately, I did get the displeasure of driving this one a little bit.

Nice Pictures, Thank You! They warm me a little looking at them..except now my back is starting to ache...Oh well, wipe the sweat and keep on truckin'.

The stacking bales on the wagon picture makes me think of the joke about the youth agricultural organization...
