lift piston

Hi all, just about to purchase this to solve my leakdown problem.

I have a '52 8N w/ sidemount dist.

Here is what I am about to order:
Hydraulic lift piston (NAA530B)
Hydraulic lift piston washer (NAA473A)
Hydraulic lift piston o-ring (NAA533A)
and of course a gasket kit for the top cover.

Is this what I need? Am I missing anything else?

Thanks for all that ya'll do

Mike

Mike35,First you need to remove the right side cover to determine the cause of the leak down.If you haven't done so yet.

Mike:

By all means replace the cam follower pin while the lift cover is off. New ones are available at your local CNH dealer for about $4.50.

I also recommend thoroughly cleaning the sump while the cover is off. You will need 5 gallons of GL-1 or CNH 134D.

I had the cover off last year to "inspect" why the lift was slow. After lube change, quadrant adjustment (which I learned to do on here), and a weld job of that cam follower pin, the lift worked great. I did pull the piston out while I was cleaning it up and the cylinder looked fine. I just moved the rings around and put it back together (silly me). I did notice that there was fluid dripping down from where the piston is when I had it back together but just didn't want to fool with it yet as I was proud enough of getting the thing to lift  . Now with mowing season over and winter on the way I thought I could get the lift holding better than it is.

OK - I'll throw in the two bits I have left over from my response to a different thread.

If your lift is leaking it's worn. The piston, cylinder, and ring(s) are ALL wear parts and quite possibly 60 years old. A [u:e039ccf77c][b:e039ccf77c]new[/b:e039ccf77c][/u:e039ccf77c] cylinder, piston and ring(s) is a whopping $120 - make it [u:e039ccf77c][b:e039ccf77c]all new [/b:e039ccf77c][/u:e039ccf77c]and forget about it for another 60 years.

TOH - who quit putting new rings on old pistons and worn engine blocks several decades ago

assuming that's wher ethe leak is.. then yes.

i'd do the relief valve as well though.. cheap insurance.
