Lift Problems

8n was slow to lift and would get stuck up. Pulled covers and found pump leaking from a blown gasket on the exhuast port side valve chamber. should i concern myself with the exhuast port valve or just replace the gaskets? The valve does move freely

etting stuck in the up position has nothing to do with the valve chambers.....once up, you could un-bolt the valve chambers & chunk them in the scrap pile & the lift could hold in the up position. I.e., check out the exhaust control valve passages & linkages.

If the pump chamber gasket is leaking naturally it needs a new gasket. There can be a problem though sometimes with the bolt theads coming out of the pump housing and in fact may be why it is leaking. Helicoils can be used to fix the bolt holes in the aluminum housing if that is the problem.

Sticking control valve or blocked exhaust valve bushing ports my be the cause. Or dirty or water in the oil.

I had to pull our tractors hydraulics apart. It's problem was that it went up and never back down. After pulling the pump and removing about 1-2 inches of deep crud I found one of the valves was stuck. It wasn't worn but all of the crud had gotten deep enough to stick the valves. I think you should probably pull everything and inspect it. I agree that the problem you found is probably not the entire issue.

BTW, I hand mucked about 1/2 gallon of crud out this tractor. It was a mess. I was too when I got done with the project. But, the hydraulics work great now and hopefully I won't be the one to clean it up next time. :)
