Light bulb removal tool

Went to switch to a new style bulb, old one didn’t want to give it up. Twisted off, left the base in the socket.

What tool to get me out of this? I checked my assortment of snap ring pliers, found the one that spreads when you squeeze. Miracle of miracles it extracted the base quickly.

Pro tip: make sure light switch is turned off

That's a pest of a problem when it happens. Edison screw fittings are fairly easy , the real difficulty comes when the bulb is in a bayonet socket .

No, I’m phobic about electricity. Probably checked the switch 3X ️

Turning the switch off isn't a sure thing. I have had it happen more than a couple times someone put the switch on the neutral. I've gotten where I check for power with a probe first.

That's a pest of a problem when it happens. Edison screw fittings are fairly easy , the real difficulty comes when the bulb is in a bayonet socket .

In a former life I used to change light bulbs on radio towers. Lights are required for towers over 200 feet tall. The blinking becons were two 620 watt huge light bulbs with bayonet sockets. Almost always at least one was broke off. A good pair of leather gloves did the trick every time.

Changing a tower light bulb looks easy from the ground! You get up there and you see the heavy glass protector is as big as the office wastebasket!

It is something not many people get to see. Everything is much bigger at the top of a tower. I have even seen eagles soaring below me when I was at a little over 900 feet on a tower.

There are 11 towers at Cedar Hill Texas my father-in-law was the service man on most of those towers for several years he always wanted to get me up on one of them, in mixed company can't quote what i said but, no way kinda covers it
