Light Bulbs for 6 Volt System

Hey all, just wanted to see what light bulbs for the lighting others are using or have used that they were happy with. I just replaced the wiring harness on my 53 SH, which I kept as the original 6 volt system. The lights hadn't been used in years and didn't work and as I go to replace bulbs, I wanted to see what you all have used or recommend for that 6 volt system. Much appreciated!

Did you check the bulbs to see if they were good? Maybe you just have a bad ground. I would check them with a six volt battery first before getting new ones

All that was checked when the wiring harness replacement was started. But due to the fact that these have probably been in there for 25 years or more, they are getting replaced regardless. Everything else is good, I am just looking for recommendations for any light bulbs guys are using that they are pleased with.

There's not much choice when it comes to 6V. If you have the older bullet light housings, regular old auto parts store bulbs, #1141 as I recall. In mid '53 they changed to a "flat back" sealed beam bulb, and the only thing that fits in those is the hard to find, expensive sealed beam units.

We were both wrong. The number is 1129 for the single filament and 1154 for dual filament.

Use 1129 LED equivalent, or an LED ^v rated that has the same base, and more lumins. Way less Amps Way more light. Jim

I use Lucas 106 bulbs (6V 24W) if the headlamp is using single base contact bulbs. They work fine in Lucas and U.S. tractor headlamps. Moreover, the reproduction ones last well, even harrowing on a steel-wheeled Farmall H. The halogen bulbs make the generator work hard. Haven't used LEDs on a tractor - I rather like the softer light the old lamps produce.

The 1133 6-8volt 35 watt bulbs have been used on I-H systems for many yrs original bulb i use them with no problems

YES!! That is what I use. The 1133 IS a headlight bulb.

YES they have been used since 1939 and here we are 72 yrs later and people
have problems with lites go with original stuff it does still work
