My 8N headlights were not wired when I purchased it. I have them wired and working now. The rear light is different from the head lights. It has a metal reflector pan and a place to plug in a smaller bulb, missing a lens cover, different color and not wired. I have a feeling this was something someone had laying around their garage and they tossed it on. Based on what I have seen in the books, I think this should be the same as the headlights. I have seen a photo of a replacement light with a toggle switch attached to the back of the light. Am I correct thinking the rear light is not the correct one? Did the correct rear light work off of the same switch as the headlights, or the toggle switch or both?

I think I remember my Dad's new 8N had a switch for clear work light or red tail light. Other's w/better memories will fill you in correctly!

I think you are right about it being the wrong light. I know, that if you want a red tail light it would be wired to the same switch as the headlights. If you want a work light it would be a separate circuit. That way you don't have to have the head lights on to use the work light.

Here are pix of the OEM Ford and CM HALL 8N-15500 Implement Lamp. Denny Carpenter makes and sells exact licensed by Ford parts. The Bulb had a 6V bayonet style soldered on a reflector base, crimped on a glass lens. Socket connected.
