Lincwelder 225

I just took this engine driven welder on
trade for a Farmall M, does anyone have a
wiring diagram or service manual for it? I
would also be interested in a service
manual for the engine if anyone knows
where I could get a pdf version of it.
I need to replace the fuel line and I am
going to assume that I cannot simply buy a
new one with the crimped on ends, is there
an easy way to put a standard line on it
with some fitting that would screw into
the tank and sediment bowl?

I would take those fuel line ends to my local independent auto parts store. They have counter men who aren't bound by "year, make and model".

The generator is labeled 50 Hz. If you use the generator for welding or resistive loads, you should be ok but I would not use it with anything that has critical electronics requiring 60 Hz.

Couldn't you adjust the governor to 3600 rpm and have 60 Hz , or would the voltage be too high? About the fuel line, I would cut the brass crimp off the outside, get the piece of hose off the adapter, and put on a new piece of fuel line with clamps.

Go over to Smokstak. Onan manual section. Look up these manuals.

I believe they will help you.Any good hose shop can make you hose. They will only cover the engine for the most part. The welder section will be coverd by who made the welder.

Many years ago, my bosses brother owned some hunting acreage in East Texas.

He found an ancient Onan diesel generator, wanted me to get it running.

That thing was a real mess! It was trial and error all the way as we were never able to find any information on it. Final conclusion it was British military, 200VAC 50 Hz.

But it did eventually run. The RPM was set internally in the injection pump. I was afraid to go in and adjust it, fear of damaging something irreplaceable.

He ran the whole little area for years on that thing. Mostly air conditioners, but it also ran TV's, refrigerators, charged phones, never found an appliance or device that cared enough to refuse to work on the low voltage or slow cycles!

I used to work at Lincoln, those were good machines, more of a welder than generator as opposed to the Weldanpower 225 with the Wisconsin, more generator and AC welder. Try the Lincoln website. You can also call the service hotline.

That hose looks like the same as what used to be used for remote bypass oil filters.

Not that that will make it any easier to find!

Maybe Ebay.

As to the line and fittings, carefully hacksaw through the crimped area next to the hex area where you apply a wrench all the way around without cutting too deep and damaging the "barb" inside the hose, remove the crimped area and rotten hose and replace it with a length of fuel-rated hose that fits the barbs, install a couple of hose clamps and it will be good for another 50 years.

Thanks for those manuals. I got the engine to fire on a bit of carb cleaner I sprayed down the intake, I pulled the sediment bowl and it looks like I will be cleaning the carb before I get to use this thing. On the bright side the engine sounded good and had oil pressure.

As Billy said, Smokstak has dedicated forums for Onan's. You can go here for the referenced manuals: http://www.skilledcrafting.com/onanfiles/. Or also here: http://onan.xmsi.net/. zuhnc
