I've always wanted a small Ford for a utility tractor and found a 3600 in reasonable shape. I'm wondering if there is a way to tell by just looking if the PTO is live or transmission. I had a dealer tell me a few years ago that if the PTO lever is straight, it is transmission, and if it is curved it is live. Can anyone confirm this or is it bad info? Thanks for any help.

I don't think the dealer is correct.
The curved pto handle is used on all twin stick trannys whether they were LPTO or not.
You can try running the tractor and see if it has lpto that way.
Or, there are three lines of code found on the flat spot just above and aft of the starter.
If you post them the good folks here can tell you that way.
