Loader float position

I have a 2007 New Holland TN75DA with a 810TL loader. I bought the tractor used a couple years ago. I thought it had a float position by pushing all the way forward on the joystick. When I push the stick all the way down all I get is down pressure. Am I wrong about the float position, or could there be something wrong ? The float mode would sure be handy for snow removal.

Assuming you are cable controlled---the spool cable need adjusted.

It's possible the detent can on the far end of spool away from handle has dirty/rusty balls not allowing spool to move into float position.

I would agree with TX Jim, I had a Belarus in the shop for a guy with an add on loader block was the same, and a few more to out on farms.
I have seen more like this than cables so far out of adjustment.
If you got a lever block the rust would do the same thing as on a cable control depending what you have.
If you have a mile of free movement in the joystick it could be worn and the cable doesn"t move the spool far enough. But that can show up as a slow function as the spool doesn"t open all the way for max oil flow.

if the cables out of adjustment the lever will sit off center in the joystick housing, in one or both function directions depending who"s messed with fitting it, or adjusting it before.

If it"s not the cables, You should see the far end of the spool is longer on the lift slice of the control block. Carefully undo the end cap, It may have 2 screws holding it on. then you should see the mechanism under the cap that locks it into float. WD 40 that,to free it off. you"ll probably find the rust falls out when you take the cap off if thats the problem.

After the WD . put a bit of proper oil on it . put the cap back on. You should be good for another couple years.

I have seen guys force the lever into float, then it won"t come back out. so they put a pipe over the joystick handle and reef on it. Funny thing is they wreck the joystick then complain about the cost, to replace it. Don"t do that, you will regret it.

The joystick and cables get loose. We replaced several of them. Some under warranty. There was a bulletin about them too. If you cannot adjust the cables enough to get the float to work, you'll have to replace the whole unit. No parts are available for the joystick itself, just the cables or the whole thing.
