Loader for 2040-S

Gentlemen.
Have a 2040-S John Deere. Looking for a loader to fit this unit. Have been told that the 820 JD is the sister to this tractor.
and if this is true then a # 145 loader should bolt right up to this unit.
Is this correct or not.

Should bolt right up. I have an 820 and a 2040. I would consider the 820 more like the granddad to the 2040.

Is your 2040S the four cylinder turbo built in Mannheim for the Europe and Canadian markets?
If so it shares the same chassis as the 1640 and 1840.
The 240 self leveling loader works great on mine.
You will want to connect the loader supply direct and return through a ported filter cover.
Using the rear scv remotes is a mickey mouse farmer fix. The hydraulics will be slow and make cavitation noises as the front pump runs out of supply oil.

Thanks, Buickanddeere
It was made for the state"s or this is what they tell me. thats why it has the S behind the ser.#
I will look into the 240 loader. I like the self leveling idea.

You are probably right on the granddad part.
the 820 has a larger pump. or the one's I have seen do.
But to park them side by side they are very much alike.

Doesn't tell us if it's a three cylinder small chassis or the larger chassis four cylinder turbo? For reasons unknown both sizes of tractors ended up with the same numbers.
It makes a world of difference for which loader fits and works better.
The Europe models get the "S".
