loader has no presure

I have a MF 175 that used to have Multi Power but it has been taken off I guess when the previous owner added the Koyker loader.The loader is plumbed to the pto side cover, the lift arms work fine so to check for presure I disconected the pressure line to the joy stick and no presure is going up to the joy stick for the loader.I don't know what to check next I have had several opinions, some people telling me the tractor has to be split to get to the pump but I just don't know enough about it to make a decision any ideas on troubleshooting this would be welcome Thanks for any help Tom

There are two pumps within the belly of the beast. One for the 3-point and the other for the Muti-Power/IPTO/Aux. Hyd. I beleive there were 3 or 4 different pumps, depending on how the tractor was equiped.

My IPTO quit working and like you, there was no pressure at the PTO cover. I pulled the top cover and found the Aux. pump filter completly clogged. I hope this is your problem. Could also be several other things. IE: relief valve stuck, sheared pump drive key, or the worst, pump gone bad.

If three point lift arms work, the pump may be ok. Do they lift anything loaded? Lift the arms all the way to the top and then try aux valves. May be a question of where the aux hydraulics are plumbed into.

Had same problem the filter was completely clogged we cleaned the filter changed the oil and ran perfetly since. We were lucky that the pump was still good after running with almost no oil coming from filter.

I do"nt know all foreign models, on ours we had to remove the top hydraulic cover to access the filter.

Joe, did yours look this bad? Some dummy (me) had left a Scott paper shop rag inside the pump section during rebuild. The gears tore the rag to shreads and ended up in the filters. Guess the filter did what they needed to do!!!!!!!!

Hi Tom,

Yep it was like yours we bough the tractor used from original owner it seems it was trash accumulated from normal use by many hours of operation.Added to: May be some dirt from the auxiliary hydraulic couplers and metal particles from normal drive train wear. The good news was that the pump was still working good and we were able to access the filter by removing the hydraulic cover.

How many oil fittings on your PTO side cover ?
If only one fitting it is the MP/IPTO pressure test port if you have IPTO pressure is present only when the PTO lever is engaged (backwards) any way the pressure at this port is only ~ 400 PSI sure too low to operate a loader which needs ~ 2000 PSI.

If there are 3 fittings then there is auxiliary hydraulic system. When previous owner removed the MP he may had removed the auxiliary pump then no more aux hyd.

thanks Joe there are two hyd. lines and the test port , I think the previous owner or someone along the way did remove everything for the MP the only thing left is the slot in the dash and the label , thanks Tom

I really want to thank everyone who has offered advise on my problem . The first person I talked to here localy said I would have to split the tractor to get to a hose inside that probabaly broke,but he was a John Deere mech.I called around to find a MF dealer,(I live in big green country) and was directed to AGCO customer service and they were very helpful.I got through to someone that new the tractor and was very understanding when I asked him to refer me to someone who knew this modeland could fix it and not someone who was going to try and sell me a new tractor,he said give me your # and I will make some calls and get back to you.Much to my suprise he called back , gave me a name I called the dealer and spoke to the mech who knew the tractor and he said the same thing I am hearing from you,I sure feel more optimistic now ,thought I was going to loose the old girl and she looks so good parked next to the 135...THANKS AGAIN

The auxiliary pump has two independant sections one high pressure for aux hyd and one low pressure ~ 400 PSI for MP and/or IPTO. The two sections are driven by the same shaft/gear. The pump is retained to the hydraulic 3 point pump with cap screws.

The aux pump in tractors with no aux hyd had one section only for MP and/or IPTO and one fitting on the cover "pressure test port".

Tractors with no IPTO and/or MP and no aux hyd
had no aux pump the only pump in the sump was 3 the point pump.

Hello Joe ,just thought I would let you know what the problem was,the mechanic just called they found that the relief valve had unscrewed and had fallen off,sound kind of strange to me but it's fixed and wasn't anything major,someone must have been in there at some point and left it loose, again thanks for your time...Tom
