OK this is a long time to be getting to the fix but I checked stand by pressure at main pump today and it was only 1850 , I was able to turn it up to 2050 and this has cleared my chatter up completely - but I have the adjusting screw all the way in and can go any higher to get 2200 to 2300 as suggested in the manual - can I shim the top of the adjusting screw to get higher pressure or should I be content as is?

Is this a indication the pump is getting worn out?

This is a 1973 JD1520 and had some chatter occasionally when loader hydraulics operating - was good cold and hot just not when warm - I seemed to have it fixed with the adjustment this morning but only ran it 15 minutes or so afterwards

Does the pump go out of stroke and quit pumping at 2050psi? Or is there a leak that bleeds off pressure before reaching 2250psi?
Is there a relief valve in the loader controls?

(quoted from post at 11:38:01 08/09/14) Figure on replacing pump.
It does have small pump doesn't it.

D-
Stating that the frt pump needs replacing is a BROAD STATEMENT without correct diagnostics being performed. Many frt pumps on JD CC hyd systems have been replaced when in fact the frt pump was not at fault

A weak or worn stroke valve or stroke valve spring will give you what you have going on...

it has the larger 8 cyl main pump, it has the
JD145 loader installed since it was new - original
owner said it came like that from dealer - I
believe they are the original cessna controls for
loader

tractor hydraulics are operating 100% function now
with no chatter but I cant get stand by pressure
over 2050

If its leaking where do I look to check? would
this be the internal hydraulic lines? I would be
suspecting its a weak relief spring or worn valve

That's why I mentioned small pump. They have shorter life span than pump with bearings.

Ran tractor for 1 1/2 hours yesterday and no issues with loader hydraulics - nice and smooth and a bit faster then before - thanks for the advice - looks like it got me pointed in right direction
