loader question

Hi, I am new to this forum and a new Yanmar owner. Just bought a 1987 147D with snow blower, roto tiller and a belly mower that needs some lovin. My question is, Is there a front end loader out there for this unit and what kind of price should I expect to pay for a unit like that?

Probably; contact loader makers. A new one can be $2500-3500. The installation is more complex than attaching a mower.

Yes, you can get a loader for your tractor. Coldwater tractors out of Washington build great loaders, I put em on all the tractors I get, great great loader for the price. I know they are $1800 and that's everything included. Shipping is what kills you. If you ever make to ND you can get one from me for that price plus shipping, I could throw an extra one on with a load sometime. I'm a dealer that's why I'm saying this. Anyways, just a thought. I doubt you have ever been here in ND anyways.

Hoogy, I just noticed you're not all that far from me. Yes, shipping a loader is costly, and the Ontario firm that made mine is long gone. If you type "Coldwater" in the search box at upper right you'll see that it's been discussed here, and they seem to be a good bye. (Thanks for the reminder, Mr. B.)

A loader is a very useful attachment (to me it ranks right next to a mower) but Yanmars weren't particularly designed for them and they can strain a quarter-century-old front end (and make it hard to steer), the hyd pump, and the bell housing. You might consider getting used to your tractor, then trading on one with a loader. Your rear attachments will fit.

I'm not familiar with your model; I don't think there are many around. But it is an "export" one, so you should be able to get a factory Service Manual for it from a dealer.

Mr. Bitz, Hi, yes we have travelled through North Dakota. We have two children living out west one in Calgary and an other in Vancouver. With friends in St.Paul and Bozeman we find ourselves at least every other year hooking up the 5th wheel and taking to the road, with at least part of the trip through the States. Thanks for your comments, I will consider your invite. At this time it is a matter of 1. Are they available, 2. Where can I get one and 3. What would be the cost to me. So I appreciate the comments.
Thanks Alan for your thoughts. There was just an ad. in Kijiji with a fellow in Ontario saying he could make up the loader for $2,595. All this is really good information now that I have upgraded from a Bolens to a Yanmar. My brother years ago used to be a really small Yanmar dealer just outside of Orangeville, but at this time does not have any thoughts for me.

Well, I just sold a loader only to a guys in my local town for $2000 w/shipping. With that being said, that would be your cost. They are $1800, and $200 for shipping, that's if I can get a pretty good load coming to me I can usually through a loader on in there somewhere. If I get more on it would be less than $200, so it really all depends.. Good luck and let me know if you are coming in my direction sometime..
