What is the quietest muffler you can put on a log splitter with a Honda gx390 motor.

Purchased flanges to go to a 1 inch pipe with pipe thread so will use black iron fittings to get where I need to be.

Was looking at a generator muffler

Just want the quitest muffler available that doesn’t require a mortgage

I used a Honde powered wood splitter years ago that the owner had used a motorcycle muffler on that he got out of the dump.He bought a few feet of flex pipe, and curled it down and under the splitter to the muffler. The muffler looked to be off about a Honda 350 sized bike. The loudest parts of that machine was the flywheel fan,the clicking valves, the spinning flywheels,(it was a super splitter)and the throaty growl of the air intake. That part is surprisingly loud.I really don't much like hanging iron parts onto an aluminum headed engine.

If you already have it converted to 1" pipe, you might take a look at a Cub Cadet muffler about 123 size.

You will need to support the opposite end of the tube somehow, but that is a real quiet unit.

I have a Olathe sweeper that has a 16HP Briggs & Stratton engine on it. It is noisey so I just bought a new $39 muffler and the new one is not any better than the old one. I think those type of engines are just noisey.

those small engine mufflers all pretty well suck, on ours with the V-twin briggs, I'm running a stock muffler but routed the outlet down and away from the operator, also slant cut the very end of the outlet, with the long part of the slant towards the top, makes more difference than one might think
