Am looking at a Long 350 tractor. I know these tractors were built in Romania I have not looked at it yet but does anyone have any history with the 350 model This one has a lot of new parts and supposedly runs. I have not looked at it yet. Its for sale pretty cheap. Anyone have some thoughts or gotchas ?

Pretty cheap,, would be a red flag for me.

I work on a lot of different brands of tractors, old and new. All I will say to you is, in my shop" LONG is a four letter word", if you know what I mean. We won't work on them.

To properly assess value, run it over a scale. Any actual work you get out of it would be a bonus.

Ok, I will be the other voice:). Bought a long 350 fifteen years ago, Romania made. Yup, hard to find parts for (are available), weak hydraulics, likes to blow seal in pump which puts hydraulic oil in crankcase,……cheap to purchase, runs for ever on a tank of fuel, great tractor to rake with, starts even in cold weather, Of my five tractors (all different sizes. ), my best purchase and would buy another one in a minute

What is the condition of the tractor, and what do you plan to use it for? Are you just thinking about buying it because it's cheap?

While anything can go wrong at any time on an old tractor, if you buy a tractor that's mechanically sound and use it reasonably, it is likely to remain mechanically sound, and you won't need any parts. If you're going to flog it in the woods, you might want to look for something more common.

If the ad for the tractor contains the words, "just needs," walk away, ESPECIALLY if "TLC" is mentioned. That means it's a money pit, basket case, train wreck and the seller is looking for a sucker to take it off his hands.

I have 13 acres and only bush hog about 2 acres. Other then that I have a sawmill and drag logs over to the mill. Add says it has a lot of new parts and appears by the pictures it is in good shape. I have not gone to see it yet or see it running.

Yes weak hydraulics would not be suite for me but may just do some minor fix ups and re-sell it.

My dad bought a new 360 in 1978. I bought a used 445 in 1981. My brother had a couple prior to a 560 that he has now. For the most part they have served us well. Some parts can be hard to find. A local, former dealer has been a big.help with that. There is a Long Tractor Facebook group that might be helpful to you.
The hydraulics are a little slower on the 445 than the other two. The 360 and 445 each have had more random oil leaks than the 560. One injection pump has been rebuilt, and another one may be due soon. The 360 still runs fine, but the pump recently has been leaking. It has been too cold to investigate it. Yes their resale value is low.

Have used 350 and 445 long tractors since the 70’s.the engines are bulletproof if oil ,coolant and the fan belt are kept up.good transmission/rear end.hydraulics are ok.these tractors are like the energizer bunny, they just keep going and going and going.simple tractors and would buy another one in decent shape in a second
