I want to replace the long starter bolts on my 2N. Would anyone happen to know the specs (length, diameter, pitch, preferred grade) of the bolts?

Hex Bolt - 1/4-20 x 7.18 OAL - 2 reqd.

Grade 2 is adequate - grade 5 if you are a worry wart.

(quoted from post at 17:57:06 04/13/11) Found another starter thread: http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=nboard&th=415265

It has a part number: "Get the real bolt, p/n 18-11091-B, bolt, starter, 5/16-18 X 7.18"

Thanks.

My error and my apologies - I was quoting the thread pitch from memory. In any event I think you will find a common hex bolt 5/16-18 x 7.25 works just fine. Probably more likely to find 7.5 inches OAL at your local hardware store - a hack saw will fix that.

Hey, no problem...I would have found the answer myself if I had been less lazy and looked more thoroughly before I started a new thread. And 1/4-20 is not too far from 5/16-18, that's not bad from memory. Me, I depend on references. I have no memory to speak of due to a traumatic brain injury sustained in a motor vehicle accident ...6/1995. Here's my story if you have nothing better to do: http://hlanelee.angelfire.com/Stuff/My_Story.pdf
