Longest production run?

Hey guys need help settling a friendly dispute. What john deere tractor was in production for the most years? He says the 4020 but I thought the letter series was longer. Settle this so we can be friends again

Oh, has to be the "D". 1924-1953. Now the most produced in terms of numbers, I think was the Model "B", with the "A" a close second.

FIT is correct. A 30 year production run is a long
time. The only other tractor I can think of that was
made that long was the Farmall Cub.

According to the Cub sites, true Cubs were built from '47 through '64, when they became Lo-Boys, so, I still think the "D" wins it.

The Lo-Boy didn"t replace the original Cub.

The Farmall Cub was built from 1947 to 1964. Then it became the International Cub (although there were yellow-painted IH models available before that). It received a power upgrade in 1975. And a number of smaller changes along the way.

It wasn"t an identical tractor along the way, but neither was the model D. How many parts would interchange between a Spoker and a Streeter?

I believe the John Deere D wins that argument by
12 years. I count 30 model years for the D and only
18 for the Cub. Not much to argue over if that s
the case.

John Deere was all my friend and I were talking about. 30 years is a pretty long time for one model that really surprised me. Thanks guys

'Course, and this is a stretch, the John Deere G started production in 1938 and continued (with a name change) as the 70, 720, and 730 until the end of production in 1970 in Argentina as the 730 diesel. 32 years.

Ok, I can tell you guys haven't been around red paint much.....the lo-boy is a version of the cub....there was the "regular" cub and the lower to the ground lo-boy. Basically, they turned the rear bull gears 90 degrees. The regular cub was high off the ground as it to be a single row cultivator or row crop; whereas the lo-boy was too close to do much row crop; it was more of an estate machine (mowing, snow plow, back-yard garden, utility, etc.). Now don't get me wrong, when I think of the longest running model, I say it's the D!

(I have both a JD D and a IHC Cub; wouldn't trade them but then again they have very different uses)
