Looking for a mechanic

I am hoping someone could point me in a direction of a mechanic that still works on antique tractors. I am located in southern Oregon. I have called many shops in the surrounding areas with no luck. I am new to these old tractors. I just bought a 1966 Minneapolis Moline Jet Star 3 Industrial, and it's in need of brakes and most likely a throw out bearing and a few other things. I've tried finding tractor clubs down here with not much luck figuring they could help me out. I'd appreciate any help I could get.

Nice Jetstar. The answer is complex because most of us on here do our own repair because there is a dearth of mechanics that will tackle antiques. So there are two suggestions, maybe three. Find an FFA teacher needing a school project. Let us help you fix what you need fixed We are quite a brain trust! I have 45,000 posts on here, and I am not the highest number. Learn how to post images, (count% from the three dots Icon above and pick the mountains and dot box. no problem!
Put an ad in your local craigs/angies list, or other list, and see who pops out of the woodwork. Jim

Did you buy it from a guy around Klamath? If not, he lists a lot of stuff in the Western Antique Iron Trader, probably has a lot of parts.

Move down the MM section on this site. You're bound to get some help in there. edit: Nevermind. I see you made it there.

I would suggest you find any manuals that may be available. Even when/if you find a mechanic having a repair manual, parts manual, or even an operator's manual will likely help as he probably won't be familiar with the details of that tractor. Parts manuals, aside from listing part numbers also show the order in which parts go together and can be helpful to a mechanic in that way.

I appreciate the info. I will buy a repair manual and probably just plan on teaching myself as I go with the help of guys on the forum. I was worried I may have bought something that I shouldn't have, but it seems like a well built tractor, and I haven't found too many like it. So, I am determined to get it back up and going.

Scootergmc- I bought it from a guy in Redding, and I'm out of Klamath. I`ll try to keep an eye out for the guy you're talking about with the parts.

There was a guy I delivered a couple old MM to in western OR near South westy of Portland maybe as far as MCminnvile or Newberg Not as far as Auburn though. It was north of the Scale off I-5 I don't recall the name either but they collected them had a half dozen or so at that time.

Klamath has an Edge TA club (branch 21) and it's bound to have more than a few tractor guys. You may want to check them out. I think they have a Labor Day show every year. I can't find any of the info I was talking about, but there is a guy named Mark Parker up in Lebanon who has a lot of MM ads in the Iron Trader. (541) six one nine 2 six niner two. There was probably a pretty good MM dealer in Klamath as I've seen a lot of tractor ads from your area and upper Norcal in the past.

You can contact the Floyd County Museum and get reprints or possibly even new old stock factory Parts, Operator, and Service manuals.

Well... I would fix your MM, but I'm in Va so that won't work!! The MM s are really simple to fix. Ask questions here and we'll help you walk thru it.
