Looking for a new tractor

I am looking to buy a tractor for general use. Plowing, raking hay, running a log splitter and tug pulling. I am thinking either a late 6 speed A, or a 60. Ideally, I would like a 620, but they are hard to find and a little too pricey for me. So, what are your opinions between these two tractors? I found a decent late A, but don't want to pull the trigger if the 60 is going to be a much better tractor for my needs.

In my opinion, if you are not in a hurry I would just wait for exactly what I wanted. The right one will come along. I would get a 620 or 60 for the live hydraulics and live PTO and power steering.

Both are good tractors but the 60 can have Power Steering and live PTO. Big improvement.

man i dont know where you are at but there was a 60 on craigs list with power sreering and a three point hitch. i think it was on boomington normal craigslist. something like $1800 i think.

I think that's the one I just missed out on? Brand new firestones on the back and a loader (not attached). I was going to go get it Friday, but the roads were too bad to try it with a trailer so we made plans with the guy to hold off until today, but when I called last night, he had sold it.

I know where a 53 JD 60 Narrow front 3-point is. The guy
told me $1000 or $1200. But, it has a cracked block. Runs
good. Western Nebraska.

They bring around $1000 to $1800 around here(Central Ohio) in average running condition, more if the run real good and have some shine on them..I gave $1,000 for the one I made my crawler out of, it sat in a barn for 12 years with the water pump bearing out, it had straight sheet metal would hardly run poor rubber.I gave $1700 for the Parade 60 at a local action, it ran good average to poor paint poor rubber.

For a 2 cyl. to use with modern times go for the 520 thru 730
models.
I love my 2 cyl. but for modern use I sure like being spoiled
buy a more modern tractor. Right now I use a 5105 with a
loader. 4x4 sure is nice as is the high loader lift capacity in a
smaller package modern tractors offer.

A good healthy 620/630 is immensely more powerful than a factory 60...but, take your pick...!

Not to mention the 620/630,s are not only holding their value but in most areas are appreciating nicely. The "A" and 60 not so much. Get the one that is an investment as apposed to an expence.

jut cruisin on ytmag.com and see mention that you made this into a crawler.. i have a jd40s rbr tired trctor and am looking for a small crawler/dozer/loader..(somethin like the 40 420 430 440...the 350s and up are a bit more than i want to afford) just curious as to how much involved in converting and did u have the u/c on hand or start from scratch and was cost reasonable versus fixing a dozer etc.??

hitch. You don"t want it to "work" with.
