looking for ford 4wd system

im on the hunt for a ford 4wd system wanting to convert my ford 641 workmaster to 4wd anyhelp would be great and im also looking for a sherman hi/lo as will any help would great, cause buying a new 4wd tractor does sound great would rather keep the old ford

If your looking to use it then you would
be dollars ahead to but a newer era 4wd
tractor. Parts are scarce and they are
not the most robust system to begin
with. What is it you need 4wd for
anyhow

Hello Chris , The 4x4 kit you are looking for is an Elenco . I own the company and have for almost 30 years now , the original owners ran it from 1948 - 1978 , I bought it in 1989 and have run it since then . Parts are not hard to get most mechanical is military Dodge and I make the rest of the parts from the original blueprints . They steer and drive just like and old truck and are just as tough as an old truck of the time period . Most problems are fault of previous operator/owners not running the proper size tires front and or rear and on loader tractors not running enough counterweight on the machine . The kits are assist type front wheel drive they are not designed to do all of the work the rear wheels must remain on the ground and provide traction to be effective . In all of my 4x4 tractors , loaders , dozers , backhoes , forklifts , cranes NONE of them have EVER been broken in over 10,000 hours of use farming , logging or building houses . The only problem you will have is that a 601 series tractor is only 35 horsepower and it is not enough . I have bought , built and sold over 300 4x4 Fords over the years and almost all have been 800 , 801 or 4000 series tractors all which 55 horsepower or more which is what you need to be effective for working . that great to know tony cause trying to find parts has been very hard so i would need a 851 diesel, so how much would it be for every thing i would need to do the conversion mines the axle i would like to us a dana 44 or 60 or 9in cause parts are cheap. i what to do this cause buy a new tractor is not as cool as have a tractor thats 30= years old and steal working, because some times the old ways are the best.
