looking for local mechanic

I'm wondering if by chance there is an 8n hobbyist or mechanic in the Black River Falls, WI area (or even La Crosse/Eau Claire) that would be interested in working on my 8n for a reasonable fee and teaching me a few things in the process.
Thanks.

I don't know what kind of problems you are having with your tractor, or what your level of mechanic's experience is, but I'd say that most people can do almost any maintenance on a N tractor with a manual, parts list and some guidance from this and 'the other' forums.

I don't have a lot of experience working on engines/trannies, etc. and I have never been around a tractor until I bought my 8N about 3 /12 years ago. But, withing 2 weeks of owning it I had it split and the transmission torn all the way down to replace a gear on the counter shaft that had 2 missing teeth. I just could not take that clunking sound any longer (though the previous owner said it had been like that for the 10+ years he had owned it).

So, if you are having problems, work with the tractor so that you are able to describe the symptoms and start asking questions and searching the forums for similar issues. Get yourself a repair manual to guide you through the steps and a parts manual help identify replaceable parts and how things fit together.

You can do it!!!
