Hi
Someone gave me your name said you would know how I could get more power out of my vac with a 201 combine motor. Any help would be appreciated

Hi GT, mEl here, the engine that we, my son and I, built for Fisher was very expensive, a 280 cid with billet steel custom crank, custom rods, lightweight racing Pistons (chevy) and a cam with a nice profile to compliment the big valve ported head The engine is zero decked, no head gasket. He is running one of our home built headers and a MS with a homemade venturi as much as the stock carb bore can flow, I don't know what your budget will allow but a good grind on the cam to increase lift but stay close to stock as far as duration is concerned will help for rpm controlled classes. Raising compression will give you a couple extra hp. Chevy valves go in the head easily with just a little bowl work, the ports on that head are fantastic, individual runners for the intakes and exhaust and can be made large if that is your desire, but thats not always the answer for rpm controlled pulling. Combustion chamber is closed so extra lift helps make up for poor design there. If you want an engine like I described be prepared to be thrown into a class all by yourself, thats what they did here, a light div 5. Its kinda humourous as other makes with the combine engines are allowed to pull "stock" all day long. However, I told the customer what the outcome would be long before I started up the boring bar. mEl
