Loosing hydraulic pressure???

I have a Ford 3000... When I first crank it up, It takes about 15 to 20 seconds of lifting and lowering the lift lever before the lift will move the first time. After that it will work fine the whole time I'm using it. It has good lifting power and will hold anywhere between up and down. It is full on fluids. Got any ideas?

Thanks Bern for the reply... Are you talking about the internal seals and gaskets of the pump? I'm sorry, I don't know a whole lot about hydraulics. Is this something that is easily done? I have a rebuild kit for the pump, but I haven't had the nerve to tackle it yet

Yes. I wouldn't say that going through that pump would be for the novice. You might wish to look at the repair manual closely first before
tearing into it.
