Buy an alum back from K&K for $220.00 and you will have lost your 100 lb.317-398-3733 or kkantiquetractors.com In the light class you will need what extra that front weighs.

in the light class i dont need that weight up front i need it in the back we pull pace so im overpowered in the light class any way really need to use 3rd gear but cant stay under pace with it then right now i pull 2 classes before i add weight to fron

this is a tough subject,, i put on a flatback and defeated my purpose because i got to a lighter class but needed the traction that i dont have now,

i done the same by putting pressed steel on thought i could pull 3rd gear but its too fast for our pace im still a bit heavy for the light class i have to strip weight brackets to squeeze it in

Replace the massive cast iron aircleaner and pipework with a K&N filter.
Replace the huge cast iron rad with an automotive unit.
Replace the steel platform floor with a sheet of aluminum.
Aluminum rims.

I just got rid of my powertrol unit and added a flatback. The powertrol with fluid was 208 lbs, the flatback was 32 lbs, and the mount I made to hold my seat was 14.5 lbs. If your interested i can send you pics of the mount. I also switched out my original front rims and tires. Together they weighed 81 lbs. I installed john deere H wheels with 4.00 x 15 tires. This setup weighed 51 lbs. It also brought the front end down a little.

As far as loosing the flatback and loosing traction. My purpose was to allow me to better place the weight. I can now move many more suite case weights farther back.

jdman,

The rear end cover and hitch combo that I made for my B weighs 47#. The seat mount weighs about 7#. Even the "lightweight" seat mount with the channel/spring weighs about 50#.

I made a front end for it, that although still has room for improvement, now weighs less than 100# including wheels, hubs, basically everything ahead of the frame. I don't know what the front pedestal weighs on the A, but on the B it was right around 160# (just the casting, not including the steering shaft, hubs, wheels, etc.)

Other places you can lose weight is in your rims. Take some metal out of there. Cut the extra axle off and use weld on hubs.
