Lost key for IH 656

I seemed to have "misplaced" my key for my 1967 IH 656. Any recommendations on what I could use as a substitute? Are replacement keys hard to get? Am I looking at replacing the whole ignition switch? Thanks

That is a universal key most IH of that vintage use. Your IH dealer can supply. However,I probably have an extra I could mail you.

That would be awesome DeltaSteve. I'll PM you my address if that's OK...and I'll pay you for it also. Thanks - Mike

Doesn't look like I can Private Message you through this system DeltaSteve. Do you have an email where I can send you my address?

If you're going to wait for someone to mail one to you why don't you just order one from any of 1000's of places online?

Part number is 131313C1. $10 shipped and it will be in your hands in two days.

John Deere lawn mower, almost any IH tractor. I had a key from a 5088 that fit my 656. I like the lawn mower keys because of the off set head.

Carefully try your pocket knife or a paper clip. They are not picky and about ANY IH tractor key will
work.

Unless your key switch has been replaced, any key from the 350-450 series to the 460-560-660 series, to the 06 series, to the 56 series will work. Even a Cub Cadet key from a 105, 123, 124, 125, etc is the same key.

Small blade on a Barlow pocket knife
always worked well for my uncle and I.
Grandpa always carried a smaller single
blade. And dad just took a key out of
something else.
