Loud Hydraulics

I have a 1970 2520 synchro transmission. I don't know much about these things so I need to be sure I am not neglecting something. The tractor is fairly loud when I first start it, but after its hot there is a loud clacking noise that sounds like it may be coming from the front of the motor. When I raise or lower the FEL bucket it gets quiet. As soon as I let off the lever and stop moving the bucket, its loud again. I have changed the filter and cleaned the sump screen. I emptied the transmission and refilled with Deere fluid. Is this normal or am I looking at some repair work?

Check the drive coupler between the front pulley and the hydraulic pump. Rubber bushings go bad and also the front coupler shaft can come loose on the pump splines. Someone will post a pic for you.

Ditto what Cliff stated. Here's the bushing PN that normally wears out.

That doesn't look too bad. It makes sense that wirhout a load it would rattle amd when it is loaded it would drive against one side. I'll check it out. Thanks.

You guys were spot on. That was it. The half clamps were a little beat up, but I reused them. It's a wonder that my father-in-law didn't notice how loud it was. It's so much quieter now. It's probably like gaining weight. You don't notice it on someone you see every day, but when you haven't seen them in a while its obvious.

Thanks for the help!!
