Low Boy trailer

Is there anyone who makes a small version of a low-boy trailer. Lets say around 20,000 pound rating. Would like to pull with minimum of 1 ton pick-up, or small dump truck. Deck over equipment trailers are ok, but kind of high in the air for my liking. Machine is too wide, and won't fit between wheel wells of lower trailers. Maybe drive over wheel wells would work. Machine is pushing 13,000 pounds, plus....

just a thought... you might go by an equipment rental place and look at the trailers they rent with small excavators and ditchers..I'm sure they use dropped axles and probably unsprung.. but some of those excavators are pretty heavy. might be worth a look

One company makes a "drop side" trailer, but it's maybe 6"-10" lower than a deckover, and has a max load capacity of 20 tons (your not pulling it with a 1 ton, or small dump truck). What you need sounds like its going to be a custom built trailer just big enough to haul what you need so the trailer won't have to be super heavy. What do you have that's weighs 13,000 + pounds, and with it on a trailer a 1 ton probably won't be enough truck. You would be better off towing that with at least a single axle semi-truck.

Low trailers that heavy are rare, you will likely have to have one made. For 20k you need either 3-7k axles with singles or 2-10k axl as with duals, either case makes drive over fenders either long or very wide with not much space between. I have made a couple where the drive over fenders go all the way across. Non of these options is popular. Shouldn't be hard to find someone to make you one tho.

20k trailer will weigh between 5k and 7k.. plug 13k, so your looking at total trailer weight of 18k to 20k....

lots of NEWER one tons are rated much higher than used to be.

but its usually a gooseneck... most are rated 17k at the bumper now.. give or take... and 30k on the goose... varies by dually or srw... cab, and 4wd configs...

I have a 22,400 30 ft.deck dual tandem. I pull it legally with my 1 ton SRW. You want to look for a "pierced deck" trailer. The deck will be maybe six inches lower than deck over.

Biggest problem is that the load needs to sit over/between the wheels for most trailers pulled by a pickup, even a dually.

As opposed to a semi-lowboy where the weight is distributed between similar axles front and back.

My brother rented a 400S when we were building his shop. He used his truck/trailer that he hauled my Ford 4500 TLB with to haul the 400S with no problems.

PJ makes a trailer called a "Super Wide" with drive over fenders. The whole deck is about the same height as the rear edge of the beavertail on a typical deckover. IIRC 81" between fenders.
