low rpm tachometer

Looking for a lowrpm tachometer to use on an old oliver 70 that is not 100 plus dollars. Saw Dennys has a 3000 rpm is it any good. Have also found diesel tachs but don't know if you could make one work.Don't want the tiny tach either. It seems like the 8000rpm or higher tachs would not work as when my operating range is only 0 to 2200 or 2500 rpm. Thanks Don

I have a Autometer Z serries pedsal mount tach I like it is 4000 rpm. about 2 5/8 dia. There are other ones by vdo that are 2/16 that are 4000 rpm. and more out there under $100. look on ebay to find them If it is dash mounted on the oliver check the mounting hole size. Also Tachs don't like Solid core wires.

i tried the glowshift and while it looks good i have had nothing but problems with mine i have used their gauges im my trucks with the same results so i will look elsewhere for my next tach just my .02

don, i use an autometer 8000rpm tach in my 77. it works real good at low rpm. 0 to about 4000 for my tractor. i can't remember what i paid, but i think it was less than $100.00.

I have one like this on my tractor. It works great and you can use it on 4,6 or 8 cyl. motors.

If your looking for a good cheap tach try going to your local auto parts store. I got a 0-4000 for an O"Rielly auto parts. Its in a sealed holder, it is electric that hooks up to the coil. i think it was like $50-70. It had a diameter of about 2 5/8in

I use a datacom 0-4000 tach with mounting cup & bracket on my WC. Works great & was reasonably priced. Summit Racing sourced. Kip

I use the Glowshift tach. They work really well, but you must have shielded spark plug wires. They are affected by electromagnetic interference, which means with solid core plug wires they freak out. I put a good set of MSD plug wires on my tractors and the tach works well every time.
