LS Tractors

I don't own one or have actually never driven one, but I know a few guys that have them around me, they all like them but all were bought new and don't have alot of hours on them. I have 3 dealers within a 75 mile radius. The one dealer said he has sold a few of the bigger ones around 90 hp. The one has been a used tractor and tractor parts seller for some time now,I was there this fall and bought a very nice used gas tank for a 2N Ford. I asked the owner how it was that he had the tank because for years he hardly had any N parts. He said alot of people were trading in these old tractors on the new LS's. He was getting a WD Allis in that day on trade, I suppose it makes it easier to clunk them over the head and part them out than try to sell the old ones anymore. Since so many people want the 4 wheel drive, power steering , and hydrostatic drive nowadays.

Are you using the reply "button" at the bottom right of the post you are quoting? Like I just did for yours?
I am pretty sure it is a problem with my phone, I am going to try a restart. When I view it in Preview it looks fine and my replies show up correctly. But my phone storage is full and I am not on the last software revision which could also be the problem. Not to weasel out of my “rhetoric” with rust, but the OP just didn’t understand the quoting. Thanks for the concern!

I myself can't wrap my mind around buying tractor with foreign engines in them. Nobody around here seems to have very good results with some of them. I'll keep my easy to work on models.
Our 2001 JD 4600 has a Yanmar engine, but it was assembled in Augusta GA. The front axle says Spicer, but I'm not sure how much of it was actually made in the US. It's the best running, finest tractor I have ever driven, I'm 73, and have been driving tractors ever since I could see through the steering wheel on a JD R!

When I bought my Deere 2038r a few years ago, my decision was down to the Deere and an LS tractor. LS makes a good product, and it was less expensive than the Deere. You could certainly get more bang for your buck with the LS. But...the LS dealer had a questionable reputation for service, and LS did not offer any financing the way Deere does. Coupled with the fact that the Deere dealer was a half hour closer, I went with the Deere. But the LS was certainly worth consideration in my opinion.

My brother recently bought one of those LS tractors with a cab so he can plow his driveway without freezing to death. He nearly died 2 winters ago from pneumonia after using his Massey Ferguson with no cab. My question is are those LS tractors any good?
Never used one or even driven one but they appear to be a ok tractor. In 1977 I shopped for a small tractor and brought a Yanmar. Got what I thought was a good price and a good deal on it compared to the others. It was a good tractor and served its purpose Until the dealer stopped selling them, parts were hard to get and expensive when you could get them and nobody wanted it and trade in value was in the basement. Lesson learned, I've had Kubota, have four of them in use now, ever since but would consider any name brand JD, Case I-H, New Holland. I know I may pay a little more but at least I know the Company will be around and trade in value will be good. I've stuck with Kubota because I have 6-7 dealers within 50 miles and always got good price on trade ins. Pretty much dealt with the same two dealers that were both in business when I brought the first one in 1990. Just my experience and opinion for what its worth.

no idea what an LS tractor is. hard to tell with just 2 letters. gotta dress for the weather. i got no cab and feed cows all winter and plow snow. be tomorrows job at -04 f. yummy.
If i had cows to feed in sub zero weather and they would not bring in enough income to furnish me a cab or at least a windbreak on tractor, they would be sold. I for sure would not complain about having to dress for that kind of weather when there are reasonable alternatives these days.

I live in Palestine, Texas and LS Tractors put in a distribution center here about a year ago.. They have lots of tractors on hand. I don't know how big an area they cover.

It’s just what I am used to doing , and my 560 gets the job done. And don’t plan on buying a loader tractor just to feed a few cows in the winter. I actually like doing field work in the summer with no cab. Just depends what a person likes to do I guess. Plus I am out there everyday in the winter filling the water trough and keeping the fire going in the cow trough to keep it from freezing. Plus it’s at the other end of the farm so that includes plowing snow also when it drifts in. Keeps me busy all winter. Plus getting firewood.

I have a LS MT357 that has a 6 ft front mount snow-blower on it. Has a cab, ac & heat with a hydro transmission. It is a handy tractor with the FEL, but lifting isn't anything compared to my JI Case 530 CK, but than again I didn't buy for lifting anything.
The only thing I don't like about it is that Tier 4 pollution junk on it. Should bought the tractor before all this pollution junk was manitary.
LS does build the smaller CIH and NH tractors less than 75 HP. LS does build their own 75 HP and larger tractors.
My MT357 has their own Miltron engine. I can get parts for my LS from CNH just by adding a M to the part number.
While you don't like the "pollution junk," has it caused any problems yet?

It's not your phone. Your quotes are showing up fine. How quotes are displayed is configured by the user. They can turn it on and off, turn the automatic indenting on and off, etc. and may not understand what they're looking at.

Personally I have the quotes turned off and depend on the indenting system to show who is responding to whom. Of course when you get to this level, the response window gets so narrow that the system stops indenting it.

48 posts on a tractor & farm talk forum and nobody yet that actually owns an LS tractor? That's kinda bizaare in it's own right. That's not to say LS tractors aren't any good....but they for sure don't seem very popular. Just sayin'

I said that I have a 2024 LS MT357 and see post #35. I did have trouble with the pollution junk at 26 hours but the dealer took care of that so far.

This was originally a tractor forum that specializes on machines made before 1972. I'm not sure the letters L and S existed before 1972, let alone a company called LS, so it's a little out of the wheelhouse other than for old men who pretend they don't even know what one is, let alone ever having operated or owned one, to grouse about how junky they are.

Kubota isn't either, yet it seems to be right up there with John Deere these days. 25 years ago people were asking the same questions about Kubota as they're asking about LS now.
I wasn't giving my opinion :) , I was channeling old internet tractor forum member, made in Merica' has not meant much for a longtime.

A lot of these S Korean tractors have been proving their worth for decades all over the world. See them everywhere when I work in the EU.

As an EDIT, the people I work with in Japan that have farmers in the family seem to prefer Yanmar over Kabota. I chalk that up to being the same as Ford v Chevy, IH v JD BS.

There are other tractor forums devoted to LS tractors. LS has been the O.E.M. (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for Farmtrac, Montana, Mahindra & McCormick. LS is currently the O.E.M. (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for Case/IH, Landini & New Holland.
https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/ls-tractor-owning-operating/ Sorry for the bold lettering. I attempted unsuccessfully several to eliminate the bold letters after I copied & pasted that information but I'm computer challenged! .
