Will a Super M carburetor work on an M?

yes but the holes that mount it to the manifold will need to be slotted out to fit the narrower bolt pattern. it is pretty easy with a chainsaw file and some care. Jim

Not sure what Jim is talking about, but Ive swapped many M carbs for SM carbs, and the only changes was to do something about the choke rod connection. The SM is on the inside, not the outside. In fact, one of my Ms has a 450 carb on it.

Yes. Direct bolt on. The Super M carb should have a metering stem with slightly larger holes than the M carb., and the venturi in the SM carb might also be larger, but you should be able to adjust the SM carb enough so your M will never know the difference.
