Going to put a super MTA crank in a M. To get the right bearings do I need to measure the crank, or is the casting number good enough? Crank is stamped std for mains and .020 for rods. Thanks.

If you don’t have a mid-1941 or earlier M engine all M-450 bearings are the same. You do realize this is just a replacement crankshaft you’re are not upping the power of your M. The M- C-248 and the Super M/ SMTA/ 400- C-264 and the 450- C-281 all use a 5.25” stroke.
Edit: If it was a different stroke you would cause the pistons to hit the head if you didn’t change anything else.
Probably be a good idea to mic the crank so you know for sure what you have. If you look at the bearing for the M in the YT store the lower listings call out the early crank numbers.

Would measure, standard C-264 and up cranks used larger journals than all but some of the last year M tractors. Still works in a M but need to use the later bearing numbers. Need measured to be sure about wear or the change from standard bearings is correct. Casting numbers on cranks ending in DD or DE suffix are the larger journal cranks. MTA is probably DE. DD were drilled for set screw for retaining hand starting pin and DE went to a roll pin and no set screw hole,
