Found a 1080 down the road from me that owner wants to sell.Engine won"t run owner says its the head gasket.Pulled dip stick milky oil. Sheetmetal ok all original paint surface rust 5000hrs. on the clock needs back tires all in all needs some TLC. what is the good the bad and the ugly on this tractor and what would be a fair offer to make on this tractor I would try to do as mutch work as possible my self.
Thanks Mark

You are buying a "pig in the poke" with it not running and not knowing for sure what's wrong. I'd be veryyyyy careful and offer a very low dollar. They were good tractors but who knows for sure on this one.

One way they tried to resolve the head gasket
problem was to replace the head bolts with higher
grade. We changed many per MF service bulletins.

dad bought ours about 2 years ago and we havent had any problems so far. Sounds like this one will take some money and tlc to go strong again. Make a low offer and see what happens.

not running, not a good sign. do you need it for parts for other 1080? offer scrap iron price, if it aint cheap then pass on it and look for running tractor. i have a 1085 and use it on occasion, strong tractor and plan on keeping it.
