248 vs 264 engine, band brakes vs disc brakes, M has slower gears, nose cone for M says Farmall and SM says IH, live hydraulics on the SM

not all SM's had live hydr just most,
also you can get a plain M with the same options as a super as i have one.that was bought brand new only thing is tag says M not SM & frt nose like he said farmall not ih

Ed, Here goes from the begining on up.
Start with a basic M, w/ 248 engine & band brakes & monroe shock seat.
Them add,
264 engine & disc brakes......Stage I SM
to above SM add,
Live Hydrolics (distributer driven)& SC seat assembly w/ batt under seat......Stage II SM
Then add
TA...............................Stage III SM
Then refine the above Stage III platform even farther and you have the pinacale of the Super M Series,,,,, the Stage IV SM....AKA....The 400!!!!
Hope this helps.
