just got a m with ser# FBK286181X1A supposed to be low geared version would like to know the year and difference between the regular gear and the low gear model tia Ken

Tractor by the serial no. is a late 1951 model and should have "W" cast codes on most major castings if they are original. I can't help with the difference between regular and low speed gears, Hal.

Late 51 model tractor and the engine serial number is probably 273181X1. Low gear in that tractor is a 14 tooth gear driving a 49.
Standard first is a 19 tooth gear driving a 44. Roughly one MPH ground speed difference. Also slows reverse down.
