M steering gear

Been trying to tighten it up, obvious was u-joint, new matching tires. Havent got to bushings yet. But question is, looking at steering sector where it sits on bolster pivot. There is play there, in the splines. Thing is they both have nice sharp edges and dont appear worn. I stuck a wire gauge in and its about .5 millimeter or .020. To much? Or just how they were. No fun in fifth! These parts are pricey, dont want to guess. No other tractor experience to compare. Thanks

until ya get it fixed run one front tire 5-10 lbs less air pressure it'll stop the wobble and save your arms

Gear and splines are tapered. Make sure gear wasn't installed up side down and tighten nut. If nut won't tighten gear down on splines you need to find out why.
