M Throttle lever removal

Wondering what is the best way to remove throttle handle on a M. The one on mine has been broken and horribly repaired and I have ordered a new one. I can get the set screw out and the lever will rotate on the throttle shaft but I can"t get it off. Thanks for any help.

I would cut a block of 2x4 and wedge it between the housing and dash to protect the housing. Use a pin punch and knock the shaft forward enough to get a screwdriver or chisel in there and knock it off. Sharps has new springs for a few bucks if yours is busted up.

Add a little PB Blaster or your choice. I did that to mine for a couple days before I tried getting it apart and it came off very easy.

use a valve spring compressor on the spring to get it back on once you have the old one off. Bill
