M602 Gear Jam

I encountered a problem this evening with my M602. While backing a load of corn into a shed, the shifter was stuck in reverse, and it will not come loose--tried rocking it, and put a LOT of pressure on the shifter, but it will not come out of reverse. Any suggestions?

It may have went past the detent. If I remember correctly, there are 4 springs and balls that the front part of the cover sits on. Not sure what to tell you there. You may have to take the cover off but, I have always had them in neutral so I'm not sure what the result would be when in gear.

If yours has the High/low lever, I guess you tried shifting to low range. If it is still hooked to the trailer, it may be putting pressure back through the transmission.
That's a common problem with the tractors that era with the amplitorque. My M5 and 670 both were that way. put in low range, makes shifting work

Think decal on dash says about keeping in high until warmup. Once warmed low can be used. Saves sprague clutch and wear. Am sure say something about ease of shifting use low range. Easy to take top of and check rails. Common to see rust on rails if been sitting. No oil is splashed to top.
